Hmm...I suppose i should post something here... [Nov. 30th, 2007|01:45 am]

[mood | apathetic]
[music |Let me go - 3 Doors Down]

Well, its late (or early, depending on how you look at it), I'm sore, I'm not tired, and I'm bored. Therefore, I have randomly decided to put something in this general area, since it is as usual lacking in updates. So, BLAR! I currently don't have much going on in my life, since my last contract ended about a month ago. Looking for new jobs is annoying, since now that I have a college education, I'd like to actually use it. On the plus side, I may actually have a chance at a permanent position at a Sablefish Research Centre in Nanaimo, which is quite shiny. I can't really think of anything else to say, so rather than type "cheese" for the next 50 lines, I shall instead leave you with this stunning picture of 16 gauge galvanized steel toilet paper.

Stolen from Kit via Adam... [Oct. 3rd, 2007|08:36 pm]
I LIKE STUFF

For the first three people who reply to me and re-post this challenge, I will send you something. It might be something I've made for you or perhaps a mix CD or a book I think you will enjoy, or something else that I think you might like. Whatever it is, I promise that I will get it to you in 365 days or less.
The only thing you need to do in order to participate is to be one of the first three to reply to this, AND post this entry on YOUR journal - 'cause its fun to give people stuff.

(just because it sounds fun...)

Avast ye scurvy Coincidence! [Sep. 21st, 2007|10:21 pm]
I just realized I forgot to make a ITLAP Day post so....YAR!

I also realized that I have a week til my birthday, which is a rather strange coincidence, considering both the date and my age. On the 21st, I only have a week of being 21 left.

Oh, and yay for incredibly chaotic weekends, but at least I get to be at Mardi Gras.

[music |the TV]

Its late, and I'm oddly restless, and Kirsten has decided to bug me "dream_warrior_mina [12:27:04 AM]: POST".

So therefore, I am posting. Learn to Fish is as usual lots of fun. The heatwave we've had last week really sucked though. I'll probably be working for DFO this September, since I've already had to turn down one job offer from them. Its kinda nice.

Well, I can't think of much else, so BLAR I say!

[mood |Blar!]
[music |Whatever it Takes - Lifehouse]

So I suppose I should actually make some sort of effort to poke at this until it appears like theres an update here. So, heres something.

Lets see. I'm having fun at my job, and seem to have multiple good leads on contracts this september. In the mean time, I get to travel all over the island teaching kids how to fish. Whee.

In other news, I managed to get into an accident on the job. Driving to our L2F training in Abbotsford, my partner Sarah and I got rear-ended by a fully loaded semi. That was not fun. I would also like to comment that whiplash sucks. Sarahs car is now a hatchback, although surprisingly enough, none of our stuff stored in the trunk was damaged. On the plus side the driver of said semi has taken complete responsibility. Still, there is literally a trees worth of paperwork needing to be filled out. I swear I've filled out WCB form 6-A five times at least by now. I think I've surpassed my accident quota for the year.

In even other-er (yes, this is a word) news, I just finished house-sitting for some friends of the family. It was fun, although a three story house is a little big for just one person. There was also a rather strange cat, who, since he had a cat door, brought me more "presents" than I really needed. Over the course of three-ish weeks,
I got about 10 dead birds, 3 dead mice, two wounded mice (one of which managed to bleed all over the carpet and me JUST as I was leaving for work), one live vole (which he then released in the fanciest room in the house), and something which he vomited all over the carpet in the upstairs hallway (which I found with my foot early one morning). I cleaned up quite a few corpses for that cat.

I think thats enough.

[music |the TV]

Well, its next week, so heres the new episode I promised. Therefore:

- I've gotten my marks: 1 A+, 2 A-'s, 2 B's, a B-, and 2 C+'s.
- I've got the job, and I am once again in Duncan.
- My training finishes on the same day Skeeter starts, so the traveling should get interesting there.
- I still don't have any idea what happens in September.

Alrighty then, heres the end of this episode.

[music |If You're Gone - Matchbox 20]

So I'm supposing since its May, I should probably put some sort of something here. So lets see:

- I've finished college. Woo. Haven't gotten all my marks yet, but it looks like I have a B average.
- I have a job interview next Monday for Learn to Fish, which is shiny.
- I may not make it to Skeeter this year, due to the fact that I don't yet know where I'll be living.
- This is due to the fact that I'll be working in either Duncan, Abbotsford, Summerland, or Cranbrook. Some of these places have a little too much travel time for me.
- I have no idea what happens in September.

Well, thats everything I can really think of right now. Tune in next week for a new episode of Aidans Life.

Well nothing update worthy has happened to me recently, since school has kept me too busy for pretty much anything nomally refered to as "life". However, Kirsten has decided to bug me until I updated, so I figure I might as well do it before she starts tring to kill me.

So yeah, I can't wait til April.

Look! Its an Update! [Jan. 28th, 2007|06:17 pm]
So this is going to short cause I'm tired of typing. I haven't posteed in far to long though, so here something is.

Christmas was good. I got to spend a lot of time with my family, especially my siblings. I don't see my sister more 2 or 3 times a year, so its always good to catch up with her. Same goes for both of my brothers.

New-mas was great fun, though horribly underplanned. Not to mention pretty much everything we did plan didn't happen. Much fun was still had though, as is noted by the fact that the background on my cellphone is a picture of Chantelle tackling Adam into the couch and repeatedly biting him. I'm amused by that picture.

School is keeping me WAY to busy right now though. I have 8 courses in total, and if all the animal care stuff is taken away I'm doing six full academic courses in a three and a half day week, so things get really busy quickly. Add that to the the full days practicum, the algae growing, the mussel spawning and growing, the catfish breeding (kinda of hard to explain....but basicly the assignment is to make these fish mate and photographicly document the whole process, so in a way, fish porn counts for 40% of my grade in one course) and of course taking care of all the trout on campus (20 tanks plus eggs). So yeah, busy. But the lowest grade i got last semester was a B+ so I'm trying to keep that record going.

I'm going to go do more homework now. I've written one paper and two reports this weekend, and I only have two left.

Two Updates in one month???? Hopefully the world won't come to an end.... [Nov. 27th, 2006|01:41 am]
[Current Location |My Room]
[music |O Fridur - Sigur Ros]

So its late, and I'm bored, and am therefore going to write stuff about my last two weekends.

So first, last weekend (18-19ish) I pretty much randomly decided to go down to Victoria to visit the Kirsten. Plans were made. Being the first time I was visiting her new place that didn't involve moving furniture and someone else driving, I had asked for directions, but forgotten them at my house, not realizing I had done so until about Cobble Hill. So upon reaching Victoria, I called Kirstens cell, thinking to get directions that way. I left a message, and then, shockingly enough, found my way to her place fast enough that I arrived there before she did. So anyways, soon after Kirsten arrived, we left to pick up Erika and get some breakfast. Breakfast was acquired, and it was very good. There was creamer curling involved. After that, we decided to go to Curious Comics before going to our movie, Casino Royale. We ended up going to pick up Justine instead though. The funny thing is though, that she didn't answer her locked door, or her phone, so after about 10 minutes of waiting, we left, thinking she wasn't h ome. Just as we arrived at the theatre, she called asking whee we were. So Kirsten ran back to get her while Erika and I got tickets and seats. The movie was very good, but being one guy with three girls was a bit trying, due to the continual ogling of 007, and the "ladies first" on the bond girls. The only thing I didn't like about the movie was the almost total lack of nifty Bond gadgets. I mean, besides his cell phone, the only gadget he had was a defibulator, and he had to run out to his car in the middle of a poker game for it. Wheres the watch with the hidden laser, or the missiles behind the cars headlights, or the pen thats actually an explosive? Anyways, after the movie we went to dinner, then Kirsten and Justine ended up going home for naps, so Erika took me to he rplace and we played Risk with Doug. We played a slightly modifed version of Mission Risk, which I ended up crushing my competition in, since by chance I started out with most of Europe and Asia.

The next morning, I followed Erika to her work, at Future Shop, simply because said Future Shop is near Kirstens place, and therefore following Erika would leave me with fewer chances of getting lost. Since it was also the release date for the Nintendo Wii, I got to derive great amusement in the long line of people waiting in line in the rain for one, even though they were sold out across North America within half an hour of the store opening, which I also find really amusing. After that, I joined up with Kirsten and Justine, and we went for breakfast, then wandered aimlessly around downtown Victoria, during which Kirsten caught on fire. Justine and I were standing at a crosswalk talking, and Kirsten was behind us lighting her cigarette, when we heard her yell out "What the Fuck? I'm on Fire!" and turned around in time for her to madly wave her arm. She extinguished herself quickly, mostly through flailing, and then continued our wandering. After, we dropped Justine off, did a bit of browising in a craft store, then I went home.

So, now its time for this weekend (even though its techinicly Monday). First, its snowed. A lot. Kyle was on the island, him, Adam and I had to get together. Of course, shortly before I was planning to leave, Kirsten dropped by randomly. Anyways, I drove up to the college, since I had to some bacterial culture work, transferring my Rainbow Trout Kidney and external lesion bacteria to a new bacterial growth plate, so they wouldn't die. We made them last Monday in lab, and we need them for this Mondays fish health lab, but the only live for about 48 hours, and having them dead would make labwork much much harder. So I did that, and slowly set off towards the billiards place where I was meeting Kyle and Adam. Slwoly because it was really snowing heavily, and my car does not like driving in snow. So yeah, eventually got there, met up with them, and ended up playing three person pool. I think I actually ended up winning, even though I'm incredibly crappy at pretty much any sort of billiards. Once that was done, we went back to Adams place and introduced Kyle to the wonders of Friefly, since he hadn't seen either Firefly OR Serenity. After that, we decided to play some D&D. By the time we ha dcreated characters though, we only had about half an hour to play. We were ambushed by gnolls. Kyle was almost killed in one blow, and I killed a gnoll, then it was time to go to the movie. We went and saw Happy Feet. If you haven't seen it, th emovie is quite amusing in its utter wierdness. If you have seen it, then dance! After that, We went back to Adams place. Kyle went to sleep quickly, while Adam and I stayed up a while later watching some strange movie about a gangster in the British Parliament.

We woke up the next morning, and after watching several strange cartoons, decided to go wander Woodgrove Mall for a while. We went through quite a few stores, and had a few snowball fights in between. After we were done, we went back to Adams place, then I dropped Kyle off at the bus staion on my way home.

Holy crap this is a long entry.

So, I figure its about time to update in here, even though not much has happened.

Mardi Gras was great. Much fun was had. Yay for Juan de Chemourtneyoxville. And the Circle of Love. We had many new faces.

School has been steadily plodding by. Its hard, but also fun. Normal school work includes taking blood samples, preparing gram stains, mapping riparian zones, feeding fish, cleaning tanks, and estimating fish growth via complex mathematical models.

Fruit Shoot is coming up soon, and much fun shall be had.

Every pirate is a little bit crazy. You, though, are more than just a little bit. You can be a little bit unpredictable, but a pirate's life is far from full of certainties, so that fits in pretty well. Arr!

[mood | tired]

Just got home from the Great Big Sea concert, so i'm currently mildly deaf in one ear, have sore hands from clapping, and not much voice left. Very good concert, with Jeremy Fisher as the opening act. The funny thing was the cover of You Shook me All Night Long; they really put the "Man" in "Mandolin". Seeing someone wailing away on a Mandolin is quite amusing. So heres a quick list of the GBS songs played before i go to bed, since school starts tomorrow and I really should go to bed.

They came on stage to Donkey Riding.
This was followed by Captain Kidd.
Then The Night Pat Murphy Died ("all the girls got loaded drunk and they ain't been sober yet").
Then Helmethead.
Then Jack Hinks.
Then The River Driver.
Then When I'm Up I Can't Get Down.
Then Concerning Charlie Horse.
Then The Mermaid.
Then General Taylor.
Then Skinnamarinkee-Dinkee-Doo.
Then Scolding Wife.
Then Consequence Free.
Then Run Runaway.
Then Sea of No Cares (played as a slow song; it actually worked quite well).
Then When I am King.
Then I'm a Rover (yay!).
Then Fortune.
They went out after Ordinary Day.
The First encore was Mari-Mac.
Then Excursion Around the Bay.
The Second encore was Lucky Me.
Then Lukey.

All in All, my evening kicked ass. What a way to end the summer.

I suppose I should make some attempt to actually keep this somewhat up to date. So yeah, work is work. Its fun, but it takes a lot of patience, especially on hot sunny days. 10 hour days in 40ยบ celsius heat suck. I have so far taught 500 people how to fish. Yay! I'm going to stop writing now, cause I'm really really tired, and if I don't stop I'll ramble on and on and won't make any sense. Brain goes WHEE!
